Based on a Stephen King novel, John Cusack stars as Mike Enslin, a horror novelist who specializes in debunking supernatural phenomena.

While researching his latest book, Enslin investigates the fabled room 1408 at New York’s Dolphin Hotel. To disprove rumors that the room is haunted, the writer decides to spend a night in the cursed suite, despite warnings from the hotel manager (Jackson) who has kept the room closed, believing the room has claimed the lives of over 50 guests. As Enslin settles in for the night, the cynical novelist is forced to reassess his views as evil envelops the room.
