Inspired by a true story, ANTWONE FISHER is young sailor Fisher (Derek Luke) with an explosive attitude, who is ordered to see a naval psychiatrist (Denzel Washington) after a violet outburst.  Refusing at first to open up, the young man eventually breaks down and reveals a horrific childhood.  Through the guidance of his doctor, who becomes more like a father than anyone Fisher has ever known, and the woman (Joy Bryant) from whom he learns how to love, Fisher confronts his painful past to start healing and at the same time begins a quest to find the family he never knew.
