Before the 2004 US election, political activist John Logue (Meyer) drunkenly announces that if George W. Bush is reelected, he'll leave the country and move to Canada. His pledge is televised and after Bush narrowly defeats John Kerry, John’s friends expect him to follow through on his promise. John learns that a website exists for disgruntled Americans who want to escape the Bush regime, head north of the border and marry a Canadian to gain citizenship. After placing ads for a fellow passenger, John finds Chloe (Paquin) and the two hit the road. On their way to Canada, the pair begins a soul-searching journey that will unearth secrets and reveal hidden truths.
