In this remake of the 1964 classic Bedtime Story, master comedy director Frank Oz (Bowfinger, In & Out) sets two con men against each other in a French seaside town where they compete for the attentions of rich, gullible American women. Suave swindler Lawrence Jamieson (Caine) is incensed that a small-time hustler, Freddy Benson (Martin), has intruded into his territory. To settle the matter, the pair set a challenge for each other: The first one to con a woman of $50,00 earns the right to stay, while the loser must leave town. After they set their sights on a wealthy socialite (Glenne Headly), the duo prove they will stop at nothing to win the prize.
