Shy teen Janey Grant (Parker) moves to Chicago where she befriends the wild, fun-loving Lynn (Hunt). When they get a chance to audition for their beloved show, Dance TV, they sneak out against Janey’s father’s wishes and try out for a spot. Advancing to the finals, Janey is thrilled when she is paired up with the dreamy Jeff (Lee Montgomery), who also catches the eye of the spoiled, rich girl, Natalie (Holly Gagnier). Despite her father's objections, and Natalie's manipulations, Janey is determined to win the spot no matter what.
