Starring Javier Bardem, Natalie Portman, Stellan Skarsgård and Randy Quaid
Directed by Milos Forman
From two-time Oscar-winning director Milos Forman (Man on the Moon), Goya’s Ghosts is an historical epic told through the eyes of celebrated Spanish painter Francisco Goya (Skarsgård). Set during the Spanish Inquisition and the invasion of Spain by Napoleon's army, Bardem plays Brother Lorenzo, an enigmatic member of the Inquisition’s inner circle who becomes infatuated with Goya’s teenage muse, Ines (Portman) when she is falsely accused of heresy and sent to prison.
“One of [Forman's] more fanciful [biopics], spinning a historical melodrama around the great Spanish painter Francisco Goya.” – J. R. Jones, Chicago Reader
