Reed Fish (Baruchel) is living the life he was destined for. Following in the footsteps of his father, he hosts an early morning radio show and produces it with his old high school buddy, Frank (Victor Rasuk). He’s also engaged to town beauty Kate Peterson (Bledel). But when his high school sweetheart, Jill (Fisk), returns to town unexpectedly, Reed's stable life is turned upside down. Jill reveals to Reed that instead of studying at law school, she’s working as a waitress while struggling to pursue a career in music. Reed inspires her to find her voice, leading to complications in his relationship with Kate and forcing him to reexamine the priorities in his safe, secure life.
