Starring Robert Redford, Meryl Streep and Tom Cruise
Directed by Robert Redford
Robert Redford (The Horse Whisperer) directs and stars in this provocative film that links three disparate storylines about the Iraq War.
Embracing the teachings of their idealistic professor, Dr Malley (Redford), two students (Michael Pena and Derek Luke) sign up for military service and find themselves fighting for their lives in Afghanistan.
Using his former students as an example, Dr Malley tries to inspire another of his pupils, Todd Hayes (Andrew Garfield). Although talented, Hayes is apathetic and cynical and Dr Malley tries to convince him to become involved and enter public service.
Meanwhile, in Washington DC, charismatic presidential hopeful Senator Jasper Irving (Cruise, War of the Worlds) has invited respected journalist Janine Roth (Streep, Mamma Mia!) to his office where he offers her a top-secret exclusive on the government’s new Middle East strategy.
