This based-on-fact story tells of struggling sports writer Erik Kernan (Hartnett), a man who is desperate to revive his career and find a headline-making story. By chance, he meets Bob Satterfield (Jackson), a former boxing legend who’s now an alcoholic living on the streets. Kernan sees this as his big break, and begins recording the man’s inspirational tale of triumph and defeat. When the story breaks, Kernan finds the fame he craved but it also attracts controversy when the boxer’s tale is scrutinized and his identity is brought into question.
