Floyd Henderson (Mac) is a retired back-up singer for a 70s soul act known as the Real Deal. When the group's lead singer suddenly drops dead, the two remaining members of the group, Henderson and Louis Hinds (Jackson), are enlisted to play a tribute concert at the Apollo Theatre in New York City. Sensing an opportunity to relive their glory years, the cranky old men agree to team up, crossing the country in hopes of reigniting their career - and eventually reigniting their friendship through the music.
