Owen (DeVito) is a middle aged, would-be mystery writer who has had all he can take with his overbearing mother (Ramsey). He would do anything to get rid of her howling voice and domineering attitude that has pushed him to the absolute limit. He strikes a deal with Larry (Crystal), his writing teacher, to knock off his much-hated ex-wife, with the understanding that Larry will do away with his mother. But things don’t go as smoothly as planned and calamity ensues in this hilarious black comedy.
