Sally Field stars as Anita Bergman, an aging mother who awaits her impending death from cancer. To bring her estranged family together, she has requested her four children travel back home to visit her one last time. Emily (Julianne Nicholson), her only daughter, oldest brother Keith (Chaplin), Barry (Cavanagh), and the baby of the family, Matt (Glenn Howerton), soon arrive at their mother's bedside. But what they thought would be a brief farewell, ends up being for two weeks, revealing some honest truths and bonding with each other along the way.
