This touching family drama involves Billy Coleman (Ashton), a 12-year-old boy with a love of dogs. Determined to own a hunting dog of his own, Billy's grandfather encourages him to save money to buy one. After two years of hard work, Billy finally earns enough to buy two puppies, naming them Old Dan and Little Ann. Through various hardships, Billy’s love for the dogs, hard work and determination eventually pays off when he successfully trains them to become hunting dogs and enters the Fall Hunting Competition.
